Malaga is the gateway to the Costa del Sol and a rental car is almost essential here. The resorts and beaches stretch for miles along the coast, Marbella, Nerja, Fuengirola and the best of Andalusia is a short drive inland: Granada, Ronda and Seville. We are a booking service: tell us your dates and the type of car and we find an available vehicle from a vetted local rental company in Malaga.

- Convertible, the Costa del Sol is open-top country; a cabrio is the holiday choice.
- Economy, a Fiat 500 or Renault Clio is cheap and easy in the coastal towns.
- SUV, a SEAT Arona or Dacia Duster for families and the drive up to Granada.
- Electric, clean and cheap to run, with charging along the coast.
Car rental prices in Malaga
Summer is high season on the Costa del Sol, so book early for July and August; winter brings the lowest prices. Economy cars start from about $30 per day, convertibles from around $90 and SUVs from roughly $52. The price table above shows indicative day, week and month rates by class.
Driving on the Costa del Sol
Malaga airport (AGP) is one of the busiest in Spain and the usual pickup point. The A-7 coastal motorway links the resorts, with some tolled stretches (peajes) paid by the driver. Parking in the old town and resorts is mostly paid; beaches and villages are easiest by car.
What you need to rent
You need a passport or ID, a driving licence and a card for the deposit. EU and EEA licences are accepted directly; other visitors usually need an International Driving Permit. The minimum age is normally 21 and a young-driver fee can apply under 25.
